    Small or large employer

    If you pay PAYE to IRD twice a month and your gross annual PAYE was $500,000 or more in the previous year ended 31 March, or your gross annual PAYE goes over $500,000 in the first year of employing, you will be classified as a Large employer – refer to the IRD PH: 0800 377 772 if you are not sure whether you are a large or small employer.

    To automatically calculate your letter of credit fill in the relevant box (or boxes) below.

  38. A Payroll Letter of Credit is required because cleared funds are paid into your employees bank accounts at the same time the gross amount is collected from your company account. The Letter of Credit should easily cover the gross amount you are likely to put through in any given pay period. We advise customers to add at least 20% to that to allow for growth.

    SmartPayroll Terms and Conditions

    1. SmartPayroll Ltd (SPL) is an on-line Payroll service. You have agreed to register for the SmartPayroll service.

    2. The installation of the SmartPayroll service will be carried out by SPL. Installation includes setting up your company and employees' details (as supplied by you) into your SmartPayroll site, providing the training you require to complete your first pay run and then ongoing free helpdesk support. The installation is deemed complete once your first payroll has been processed in the SmartPayroll system.

    3. Part of the installation process includes applying to your bank for a Payroll Letter of Credit. Please note some banks charge customers to set up a Letter of Credit and you may wish to negotiate those charges with your bank manager.

    4. Generally bank transactions incur a small fee. ASB Management Services Ltd (AMSL) will make the payroll transactions from your account to your employees' bank accounts and there will be a small fee per transaction of 35 cents.

    5. A refund of your installation fee will be issued if SPL has not commenced or is unable to complete the installation process, or if you decide within 30 days of signing this order that you do not wish to proceed.

    6. All data and information relating to your company's business shall be treated as confidential by SPL.
