Paying wages on statutory holidays
The Christmas holiday season is nearly here! We’re starting to get lots of calls about entering annual leave or statutory leave over the holiday period. To make it easier for you, we’ve created a flowchart which helps work out how to pay staff for the statutory days and get the most out of your payroll software. To get your copy, just log in to SmartPayroll and just click the link on the message that pops up on the front screen.
Holiday payroll questions?
If you need any help at all, call us or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We get a huge volume of calls near Christmas, so calling us earlier in the day will help you to get through to one of our team sooner.
Payroll and banking days
Please note that the banks are closed on the statutory holidays, so if you would run your payroll on Wendesday 25th (Christmas Day) or Thursday 26th December (Boxing Day), it’s best to pay wages for your staff earlier (e.g. Tuesday 24th instead – the pay will be in the staff accounts on Christmas morning). The next banking day after Christmas will be Friday 28th December.
The same applies to New Year’s day and 2nd January (these are also statutory holidays).
SmartPayroll Helpdesk hours
The SmartPayroll Helpdesk will be open all through the holidays except on the statutory days – don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any payroll questions.
