You may hear us go on about us delivering payroll that’s “in the cloud”. But what is the cloud?

Well, basically it means you handle everything online. Your payroll is set up and delivered through the Internet as opposed to you having to download software. So you can do it from anywhere that has the Internet.

But don’t worry, your data is completely safe. We back it up and store safely so there are no security concerns and if your computer has a melt down, it won’t affect your payroll at all.

We are taking the hassle out of payroll and making sure everything is as easy as possible to make your business run smoothly.

Not so long ago, our blog, Christmas Countdown, mentioned that closer to the big day we would give you some more information to make your holiday payroll easier. Because everyone’s got enough to stress about at this time of year, payroll should be the last thing on your mind.

So, click this link to view all the information you could need about entering holiday leave days and statutory holidays on our website.

World Champions. It’s two simple words the New Zealand public has been waiting to hear for 24 years. 80 minutes and one heart stopping injury to Aaron Cruden later, our dreams had become reality. It’s hard to describe the raw emotion that this victory has brought but seeing Richie McCaw raise that trophy is something that will never be forgotten.

All we can say now is celebrate New Zealand; the All Black’s did it. We did it.

I would like to put in writing what I voiced over the phone, everyone at Smartpayroll have been absolute lifesavers, from the smallest question about simple things through to things that may not even be in your area of expertise there has always been a helpful voice on the other end of the phone. Being new to the country, and to this kind of role there has been a massive and somewhat daunting learning curve for me personally and I feel you guys have all presented a wonderful lifeline.

IRD Tax Review

The IRD’s upcoming review of the way it interacts with small businesses is a direct result of IRD taking notice of the success of online payroll and accounting systems.

IRD want to improve the tax system and make it more certain and speedy for businesses by increasing the use of electronic services by taxpayers when they are interacting with Inland Revenue.

The success of SmartPayroll has proven the IRD is on the right track with more and more businesses wanting an online intermediary system to manage their payroll.

Positive feedback from Chameleon Events

Chameleon Events recently organised the film premiere to Peter Jacksons new film, The Lovely Bones in Wellington. During this period we had to produce a large diverse team that were a mix of contractors and employees through the duration of the event to ensure that it was a success. Due to such a busy period Chameleon was under pressure due to the short hire of many new staff and SmartPayroll was the solution. We were very impressed, as the payroll was processed in under a one week from the completion of the event at a very low cost to us, and minimal involvement from our end was needed. We are now contracting SmartPayroll to process the pay for all of our companies, and we fully recommend other companies should do the same.
