Easter and Payroll

This year, Easter falls between Friday 6 and Monday 9 April, with both the Friday and Monday being bank holidays.

What this means to you is that the banks will be closed so your payroll can’t be processed on these days.  If your employees would have normally been paid during this time you will need to get your pay processed on the Thursday before.  This will ensure it is in their accounts on Friday morning.

As you know SmartPayroll runs “in the cloud”.  Yes, it’s effective and easy.  But no, it doesn’t mean we forget about you, the customer.

Just because everything is processed online, it doesn’t mean we don’t still offer the most comprehensive, personal support we are able to provide.  We are available to discuss anything with you, whenever you want. Oh and of course, it’s all free.

So, we want to hear from you.  Got a problem?  Lets solve it.  Got some feedback or any questions?  We want to hear it.  We don’t even mind if you let us know the great things we are doing.  It all helps us provide a better product, and better service for you.

Seminar Success

Last week we finished the last of our payroll workshops in this series.  We have been in and out of the main metros of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch over the last month and we were extremely happy with the turn out.

Thanks to everyone who came along.  We hope you learned everything you needed.  If you have any more questions or need some more clarification, please feel free to give us a ring anytime and just ask.  We are more than happy to help.

If you couldn’t make it this time, don’t fret.  We will be looking to do more in the near future so stay tuned.

ESCT Tax Changes

Employer Superannuation Contribution Tax (ESCT) is due to change.  You should have been informed by the IRD already about this.

If we file your tax returns for you, don’t panic, as you do not need to do anything.  SmartPayroll will update everything automatically.

However, if you do your own returns, a small change will need to apply.  We will send you out information on what you will need to do mid March.

Our fun run Round the Bays

The sun was beaming, and the crowds were gathering to start the Wellington Round the Bays fun run.  With 7km of pavement in front of us, there could have been worse things to do on a Sunday morning.

Adorned with the SmartPayroll angel on our back, 30 of us joined the other 12,000 entrants and set off. 

A bit of weaving and ducking around others, some panting and sweating later, we were over the finish line.  Hands on knees but smiles broad it was great to get active and participate in such a widely enjoyed event.

Good luck to everyone doing the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays run on 18 March.  Get involved.

Payroll Workshop Reminder

We’re now down to counting the days instead of weeks until we kick off the first of our free payroll workshops for the year. 

With Wellington the first stop on 24th February, we hope you’re getting excited about the chance to pick the brains of the people who know payroll best.  We will then be heading up to Auckland on 29th before jetting down to Christchurch on 8th March.
